Maurine Sebenaler

Maurine Sebenaler was born on May 18, 1931 in Cavalier, North Dakota to parents Fred & Mildred Misson. She had two brothers (now deceased) Merle and Irwin. She went to school in Cavalier and then in Mentor, Minnesota where she met and married her husband and father of her children Russell Sebenaler on June 27, 1949. She has six children—Duane and wife Vickie from St. Hilaire, Mn, Tim
Sebenaler from Jordan, Mn, Shirley and husband Dan Jolly from Mentor, Mn, Shawn and wife Laurie from Bemidji, Mn, Michelle (Shelly) and partner Roger Hiller from Bemidji, Mn, and Jeff and wife Andrea from Chaska, Mn. She also has 14 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.

Russell farmed north of Mentor, so her main job back then was being a farm wife and raising her children. Later on when the children were older, she owned and operated two beauty salons, one in Erskine and one in Winger. Her home church is St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Mentor. Russell passed away suddenly at age 66 working on a roof on May 8, 1998. Maurine left the farm then, living with Shirley and Dan at the lake for a time before moving to an apartment in Sartell, Mn. where she met and married Art Christiansen on March 18, 2008 and moved into his home in Sauk Rapids. Later they moved to a patio home in St. Cloud until Art passed away unexpectedly from a fall on November 25, 2017. Maurine then moved into another patio home in Bemidji, Mn for a few years until moving to assisted living at Country Place in Erskine, Mn, and finally moving to Fair Meadow Nursing Home on February 28, 2023.

Maurine has always been an energetic person and liked to travel. Some of the places she has been are to Alaska with Russell, on a Caribbean cruise with her family after Russell passed, to Laughlin, Nevada where she and Art got married, to Florida on her honeymoon with Art and to Mexico with Art. She has been to the nation's capital also visiting Camp David when her grandson Jeremy was stationed there. She has also made many trips to Colorado where she went white water rafting and skiing many times, doing so for the last time when she reached the proud age of 80!
Some of Maurine's hobbies are traveling, spending time at the lake, shopping, reading, playing cards and going to the casino. She has told her children that she likes Fair Meadow—the people, the staff and the food!
